Building data systems for art-based ABA is not “soft.” It’s measurement, reliability, and decision-making, adapted to a dynamic setting.

Course is live: Monday, January 19th!

Course features
Data Collection and Analysis Procedures
  • Video time: 30 mins
  • Exams: 1

This course teaches you how to build a clinically defensible, low-burden data collection system for art-based and other creative ABA sessions—without turning the session into a clipboard exercise.

You'll learn how to:

  • Write tight operational definitions for “creative-session” targets (engagement, refusal, flexibility, functional communication)

  • Select the right measurement system for dynamic contexts (rate, duration, latency, MTS, interval, permanent product)

  • Implement feasible interobserver agreement (IOA) probes and treatment integrity checks

  • Use data for function-based decision-making while maintaining assent and social validity

  • Learning Objectives

Selecting targets that are clinically relevant in creative contexts (engagement, communication, flexibility, problem behavior)
Writing operational definitions with includes/excludes + onset/offset rules
Matching dimensional quantities to the right measurement system (rate, duration, latency, MTS, permanent product)
Running feasible IOA probes and procedural fidelity checks
Translating graphs into decision rules so data actually changes practice
